印地安人總經理Chris Antonetti表示，Bauer是在維修他的遙控飛機時，弄傷他的小拇指的，這位右投平時喜歡組裝遙控飛機，並在空閒時間出去試飛。
「就算我想盡所有原因，也不可能想到這個。」印地安人總教練Terry Francona，在當地媒體問到對Bauer的受傷有何看法時，開玩笑地做出如此回應。
Francona還能如此幽默的回應，是因為Bauer的傷勢並沒有太嚴重，在隊醫陪同下，他在這3天好好的修養，應該是不會影響在第3戰的出賽。
不過印莿桐買房自備款地安人雖然已經殺進美聯冠軍賽，不過卻也傷痕累累，輪值已經禁不起再有人受傷，他們接連失去Danny Salazar(右臂不適)Carlos Carrasco(右手掌斷裂)，如果Bauer也接著宣布不能投，那屆時搞不好三人輪換的想法就真的必須付諸實踐了。
雖然臨危受命，但是Tomlin倒是很樂觀的表示，這不是球隊第一個遇到的難題了，從春訓以來大家就不斷地面對阻礙，但球隊上下都不會去逃避，反而會將之視為前進的動力。
不過當記者問到Tomlin，是否聽過有投手因為玩遙控飛機而受傷的時候，Tomlin卻忍不住笑了出來。
